Now that week is complete and teams have begun to separate themselves, the ACC has separated themselves as a conference by becoming, in my opinion, The Worst Conference In The Country. This is after long consideration that I come to conclusion as the Big Ten and the Big East have not been that stellar. But with the way that Wisconsin and Penn State played this past Saturday compared to any team in the ACC, the ACC definitely is the worst.
For two straight weeks, the ACC has underperformed against lesser teams. Miami played better than most people expected, but there are no BCS points awarded for moral victories. It is all about wins and losses and no matter how great their effort was, at the end of the game they were losers on the scoreboard.
Hopefully, this conference gets stronger as the season progresses, but I kind of doubt it. This is not a matter of each team being so strong that they beat up on each other. All of these teams will be so inconsistent throughout the year that it will bring new meaning to “Any Given Saturday.”
Maybe they will prove me wrong, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
